SoBRO Education Services in Jeopardy - But You Can Help!
Budget cuts are threatening programs at the core of SoBRO's mission. Adult education courses--provided to our clients free of charge--allow South Bronx residents to break the cycle of poverty and joblessness that has plagued our community for decades. Whether learning English or pursuing a high school equivalence certificate, SoBRO programs give students the ability to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
Please email us at info@sobro.org with "Save Adult Literacy" in the subject line to find out more about what you can do to help.

SoBRO Student Wins Opportunity Award
Chanel Thornton, who has received the services of many of SoBRO's programs over the past three years, has won a 2009 Opportunity award from the New York City Employment and Training Coalition (NYCETC). She won the Program Participant award for the amazing progress that she made with the help of SoBRO's programs over the years.
Her story inspired SoBRO supporters at our 36th Anniversary Gala last November, and we are proud to see that her story can now influence a wider audience. We believe that much can be learned from her tale of success and redemption.
