South Bronx Leadership Forum

April 20, 2010

On Tuesday, April 27 Seth W. Pinksy, President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) will speak at the most recent installment of the South Bronx Leadership Forum (SBLF).

Mayor Michael Bloomberg appointed Mr. Pinksy as NYCEDC President in February 2008. Shortly after his appointment, the financial crisis struck New York City hard when the investment firm of Lehman Brothers collapsed, and Mr. Pinksy has dedicated the last two years to guiding New York City through this unprecedented series of challenges. His tenure has seen the implementation of dozens of programs and initiatives designed to foster entrepreneurship and innovation, promoting a stable, diverse, and resilient New York City economy. He has been involved with some of the City's most high-profile development projects, including the World Trade Center and South Bronx Greenway. To learn more about Mr. Pinsky's activities and accomplishments at NYCEDC, visit their website.

The SBLF gives individuals that play a key role in this city an opportunity to talk about their plans and priorities by addressing leaders from the public, private and non-profit sectors, along with members of the community. Previous guests have included Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Charles E. Schumer, Dept. of Youth and Community Development Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav, and many more of the region’s most influential figures. President Pinsky will make an excellent and honorable addition to this distinguished roster. Breakfast will be provided at 8:30am and the event will begin at 9am. Reservations must be made in advance by either emailing the attached form (pdf) to lyantz[at]sobro.org, downloading and faxing the form, or calling (718)732-7522 to RSVP. The suggested donation to support this and future SBLF events is $5.

Since 1991, the New York City Economic Development Corporation has been the City’s primary engine for economic development charged with leveraging the City’s assets to drive growth, create jobs and improve quality of life. They use their expertise to develop, advise, manage and invest to strengthen businesses and help neighborhoods thrive.
