SoBRO's February SBLF Showcases Lending

The first South Bronx Leadership Forum of 2012 took place on February 28, 2012 and hosted three economic development experts in the Bronx who spoke to an audience of business owners and community members about the community’s lending landscape.
SoBRO Goes Smoke-Free

SoBRO is a second-year member of the Bronx Smoke-Free Partnership, a group dedicated to increasing awareness of tobacco control issues among community members and policymakers in the Bronx. The Partnership, which is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services and the New York State Department of Health, supports neighborhood-based efforts for change in order to improve the health and well-being of Bronx residents.
SoBRO Awarded Small Business Services Contract to Assist MWBEs

This winter, SoBRO was awarded a three-year, $300,000 contract by the NYC Department of Small Business Services to provide assistance to small businesses and New York City-certified Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) competing for and performing on City contracts in the field of Good and Services.
SoBRO Awarded Con Edison and Maximus Foundation Grants

SoBRO received awards from Con Edison ($18,000) and The Maximus Foundation ($5,000) to fund construction on a new project called the “Greenhouse Roof Operation.”
SoBRO Honors Youth Scholarship Recipients

On the evening of Thursday, November 10th, SoBRO’s Youth Education and Development Center hosted a dinner reception in celebration of this year’s SoBRO Youth Scholarship recipients. Funders, including DaMar Smith from News Corp and Joe and Katie Weston from the Jerry Weston Foundation, attended the ceremony.
